Practical communication and inclusion support for organisations and individuals, informed by research, lived experience and delivered through workshops, audits, and training.

About Rachel Barber

I live and work in Yorkshire and enjoy exploring the area on foot and by bike. You’ll often find me cycling to meetings, events, and classes, something that reflects how I like to work: practically, accessibly, and grounded in everyday life.

My work focuses on helping organisations and individuals communicate more effectively and access opportunities that meet their needs and aspirations. This has been shaped by both my professional background across a range of sectors and my lived experience of disability, which has given me a clear understanding of how barriers can appear in employment and services, often unintentionally.

Over time, my studies and professional experience have led me to explore practical ways to improve communication, inclusion, and access. I work collaboratively with employers, employees, and individuals to identify real barriers and develop solutions that are achievable and meaningful, rather than theoretical.

I take an audit led approach, combining insight, experience, and structured workshops or training. This allows organisations to make small but high impact changes that improve communication, inclusion, and participation.

For individuals, this includes support such as lipreading and hearing management, helping people communicate with more confidence in everyday life.

My work is practical, supportive, and focused on enabling people to contribute their skills and talents fully, whether in the workplace or wider society.

Qualifications:

Master Business Administration (Sheffield Hallam University),
Psychology Honours degree (University of York),
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (University of Southampton) and,
an ILM Coaching qualification Level 3 (Leeds Beckett University).

In 2025, I qualified as a lipreading teacher at City Lit, London.

I have also participated in:
Senior Leadership courses as well as,
Safeguarding level 1, 2 & 3,
the Mental Capacity Act level 1, 2 & 3 and,

At the heart of my work is a belief that better communication and thoughtful inclusion allow people and organisations to thrive. My role is to help make that practical and achievable.
